Diet Disclaimer

I started this blog as a way to document my diet. My plan was not to create a source for dieters to follow me to lose weight. However... I am losing weight and I feel great! I don't have crashes like I used too and, in general, feel better.

I love the idea of helping other, but I have to caution anyone that might read this blog as a means to finding the answer to losing weight... I am not a dietician or expert of any kind. Please use this as a reference and not a sole source. Do your own research.

Cutting out sugar and starch makes sense to me, but may not be for everyone.

By all means use what I have, but experiment with your own ideas. Share your ideas here. I have a lot to learn and would love to hear your ideas.

Dinner - Whole wheat spaghetti with Classico Tomato and Basil sauce. Two slices of garlic toast made from sugar free whole wheat bread.

Sunday I enjoyed French Toast and Lasagna. The lasagna was made a bit differently this time. I added a layer of fresh chopped bell peppers, mushrooms and brocoli. I also snacked on apples and grapes.

July 13th, 2009 - 13th Wedding Anniversary

July 13th, 2009 marks the day that my beautiful wife and I have been married for 13 years.  Life went on pretty much like always, but we did enjoy a meal at a Greek restaurant :)

Breakfast -Uncle Sam's cereal with stevia.

Morning Snack -None.

Lunch -Two Boar's Head Blazing Buffalo Chicken sandwiches with reduced fat swiss and mayo all on sugar free whole wheat toast.

Afternoon Snack - Sugar free whole wheat toast with cream cheese and sugar free raspberry jam.

Dinner -A quiet meal with just the two of us at "John the Greek" restaurant in San Antonio.  I enjoyed baked Tilapia with a side of green beans and a side of baked eggplant.

Late Snack - Bowl of shredded wheat cereal in 2% milk.

Weekend - July 11-12

This weekend I was busy building a bookcase for our master bedroom.  That kept me busy all day Saturday and most of Sunday so my eating schedule was all off.  For the most part it was boring ordinary sugar free stuff that is all over my blog but, I did make some Sloppy Joe Sunday that was very good and worth putting in my recipes section... check it out!

Late Snack - Sugar free peanut butter and jam sandwich.

It's Been Too Long

Normally when I miss a day or two I do my best to go back and fill in the blanks. This time... it's been too long. We just went through the 4th of July weekend and I can not remember everything that I've eaten to fill in those blanks. I did not waiver from my sugar free diet. While others were eating ice cream, burgers and dogs and cookies beautifully decorated... I ate my usual collection of sugar free white starch free foods. That is hard to do on the holidays because there are so many "good" foods that we are accustomed to eating on certain occasions.

I do have to laugh a little. My wife made some beautiful cookies for the 4th of July with red and blue sprinkles. I was busy taking care of some responsibilities elsewhere and did not have anything to eat. She agreed to bring me some sugar free peanut butter and jam sandwiches. I took a bite... then another and thought "boy this bread is sweeter than it should be". I took a close look and there were red and blue sprinkle on the bottom of my sandwich! LOL She had made the sandwich on the same counter top as the cookies :) I picked 'em out and ate my sandwich... thanks Honey!

Last night I did eat something new. We had a container of raw sliced mushrooms in the refrigerator that needed used so I thought about making some mushroom gravy to put on some chicken. I used olive oil to cook down the mushrooms then added whole wheat flour. Once that thickened I poured in the milk, seasoned with salt and pepper, reduced to simmer and voila... gravy. I put some chicken tenders in a small baking dish and covered with the gravy and baked at 400 for about 30 minutes. I put all that over some long grain brown rice... yum.
